How to schedule Bluesky posts as part of a client calendar

Connect a Bluesky account with an app password, write a useful short post and keep its schedule alongside other client content.

Platform guides

Bluesky can be one part of a client's publishing plan without becoming another disconnected list of reminders. Prepare a short, complete post, connect the correct handle and check the publishing result after its scheduled time. This guide covers the workflow in Postfliq; verify current options in the tools you choose.

Connect with a dedicated app password

Create an app password in the Bluesky account's settings for the connection you are adding. In Postfliq, open Accounts, choose Bluesky and complete the credential flow using the intended handle. Attach the account to the correct client brand. Keep the client's main password out of planning sheets and review messages.

If the client revokes the app password later, the connection needs updating. Agree who can perform that step before your first publishing deadline. Test the first real post rather than assuming that a saved credential proves every future publication will succeed.

Write a complete short version

A long caption that has simply been cut off often loses the useful point or the link. Decide what the reader should take away, then write a short version around that. Check the composer limit, image descriptions and final preview.

For example, a long client article about preparing for a consultation could become a concise update about the three details a customer should bring. The post can link to the longer explanation. This is an illustrative editorial choice, not a claim about which format performs best.

Schedule it alongside the other channels

  1. Choose the client brand's connected Bluesky account.
  2. Write the shared idea and adapt the Bluesky caption where needed.
  3. Add suitable media and descriptive text.
  4. Save the complete draft if feedback is required.
  5. Select a publishing time and verify the calendar entry.
  6. Check the destination result and the actual post after publication.

Use brand and status filters to focus on the right client. A scheduled update should not be confused with an approved draft that still needs a time. In Postfliq, client approval and scheduling are separate actions.

Keep cross-posting deliberate

Bluesky has described using third-party tools for scheduling and cross-posting. That does not mean every scheduler has the same formats, limits or reporting. Compare your actual needs: handles, media, feedback, failure recovery and connection management.

When the same idea also goes to LinkedIn, read both versions before scheduling. Check that each stands on its own, that the link is still present where needed and that the selected accounts belong to the intended client. A shared tool reduces context switching, but the destination check remains your responsibility.

Reserve time for the conversation

Scheduling handles publication, not every interaction that follows it. Postfliq's publishing connection does not imply a complete Bluesky replies inbox or every metric available inside the network. Plan time to visit the network for conversations and inspect reporting coverage before promising client reports.

Start with Postfliq's Bluesky scheduling workflow and the two-week calendar worksheet. If a post does not publish, work through the failure checklist before sending a duplicate.
